Phuket Nightlife: Vibrant Clubs, Bars, And Gorgeous Girls

If you’re visiting Phuket on your holiday, you can’t leave Phuket without paying a visit (or multiple) to the Phuket nightlife. Visiting Bangla Road is one of the best things to do in Phuket while you’re there.

Personally, when it comes to the nightlife, I prefer Phuket over Pattaya.

And in this article, I’m going to show you exactly where to go, what to expect, and much more.

Phuket has a well-known reputation for its fun-filled bars and exciting nightclubs.
From bar hopping on Bangla Road to the glamorous Patong Beach clubs – there’s something in the Phuket nightlife area that will be perfect for everybody.

Since I’m married, my wife doesn’t let me go alone, haha. Yes, Thai women sometimes get jealous, but I get it. As a Western guy, or Farang as Thai calls us, we get too much attention from the bar girls.

But even when you enjoy the nightlife in Phuket as a couple, you can have a great time.

nightlife in Patong, Phuket

There are many beer bars, agogo bars, as well as a few very popular nightclubs.

Whether you want an action-packed evening with your closest friends or a romantic date night, it can easily be found within this exotic destination.

With so many options available though, deciding which one might suit you best could seem somewhat overwhelming at first glance. Not to worry though as I’ve got just the answer – check out this Phuket nightlife guide below for some of the hottest places to check out.

Which Area Has The Best Phuket Nightlife:

The best nightlife in Phuket can be found in Patong.

Bangla Road

Patong has 1 huge party street that is 400 meters long, called Bangla Road, and is packed with beer bars, agogo bars, and nightclubs on both sides of this street. And in the middle you’ll find an area with a food court for if you’re building up an appetite.

Bangla Road has 2 entrances, one of which is from the Beachside, called Patong Beach.

On the other side of Bangla Road, you approach an intersection that leads to streets with some more bars as well as quite a few massage parlors. However, lots of them are more for the soapy massages with sexy girls if you know what I mean.

It’s also very relaxing to sit on the beach after having a few drinks at the bars; when you go there, you’ll find many other couples doing the same thing.

OTOP Market

Another part of Patong where you can find many different bars is called OTOP.

Otop is an area on the other side of Patong, which is only a 5-minute motorbike ride from Bangla Road and is basically a huge square with about 50 different open bars.

These bars look like mushrooms since they’re round bars with a small roof over them, which makes them look like a mushroom.

Otop has a very relaxing atmosphere and most bars have pool tables, so you can shoot some pool with the girls who work there.

The video below is from a Youtuber called, Brendan, a Canadian guy who travels through Thailand and other Asian countries to visit the nightlife and in the video below, he visits Otop Market.

What are the Best Areas of Phuket to Party

Visiting Phuket, the beautiful Thai island is an increasingly popular option for travelers who look forward to experiencing the best nightlife that Thailand has to offer. With its countless bars and restaurants spread out over this gorgeous island of surprises, there’s always something new waiting around every corner when it comes to partying in Phuket. But which places are really worth going out late at night?

Patong Beach certainly stands near the top as one of the most favored hangout spots on Phuket Island with great reason – from Soi Sea Dragon up through Bangla Road you can have some of the wildest experiences ever seen throughout the whole country! Beer bars or high-end clubs – whatever your preference may be, Patong Beach offers a surefire way to guarantee a great night out

If searching for a slightly calmer atmosphere compared to the hustle and bustle found in Patong then Kamala Bay might just serve the right amount of peaceful seclusion needed while still having plenty of facilities available nearby.

Here you can enjoy drinks listening live music while admiring stunning views during sunset but also find pubs & clubs open until sunrise if a healthy dose of adventure is missed earlier!

My wife and I stayed in the Kata area a few years back, which also has some nice bar areas. We stayed at the Aurico Kata Resort and Spa, which was a high-end hotel with a room with pool access, which was awesome.

And within walking distance from this resort, there were quite a few bars as well as restaurants.

But don’t expect anything close to Bangla Road.

Also, Chalong Bay shouldn’t go unmentioned either with an abundant selection of chic cocktail joints flanked by international cuisine establishments, ready to satisfy your hunger even after a long day spent exploring what else this wondrous island has to offer.

And last, but not least, there’s Phuket Old Town, which is the city center of Phuket and besides having a lot of artistic buildings to see, when it comes to the nightlife in Phuket Town, it has a lot of pubs where you can have a drink.

Phuket Old Town is especially a great place to visit on a Sunday, where there’s this huge night market with tons of food stalls and live musicians.

My recommendation is to visit the night market from around 7 PM till 10 PM and then go out and visit some of the bars nearby.

The night market starts earlier, just around 4 PM, but the best time to visit it is from about 7-8 PM until it closes.

When you’re at the night market, make sure to look out for this young talented girl. She’s just 14 years old if I’m not mistaken, but has the voice of an angel and performs all over Phuket and on the Sunday night market almost every week.

Be Aware though, that when you’re driving there yourself with a car, it can become hard to find a parking spot. We had to walk about 15-20 from the place we parked to the night market.

Clubs Phuket: Top Party Venues

Phuket is definitely the place to be for an incredible nightlife experience. From beach bars and world-class nightclubs, you will have plenty of options for living your best life during a night out in Phuket!

Clubs here offer such unique atmospheres that cannot be found anywhere else in Thailand.

Many are located on or near beaches so guests can enjoy beautiful views while they dance along with music from around the globe. Whether you prefer high-energy VIP sections or chill lounge vibes, there are various kinds of clubs available catering to different tastes.

Best nightclubs in Phuket

The 3 most popular nightclubs in Phuket are all located in Patong and are:

  1. Sugar Club Phuket
Sugar Club opens up every night around 9 PM and closes at 4 AM

  2. Illuzion

Click here for the directions with Google Maps

Plus, being surrounded by great restaurants means dining before heading out or grabbing some food after is easy as 1 2 3!

Clubs in Phuket also get creative by hosting wild events like foam parties and pool parties where people blast through till dawn with their wet ‘n’ wild moves!!

This amazing lineup draws more people back time and again. No other destination offers quite this amount of action all under one roof. To top off these wondrous nights there’s plenty of accommodation close by too.

I will write a separate article, completely dedicated to the best hotels in Phuket, and link it here when it’s on the website.

Bangla Road Phuket vs Walking Street Pattaya

If you would ask me which party spot I would prefer, Bangla Road in Phuket or Walking Street in Pattaya, I would pick Bangla Road.

Although the two are pretty similar, I still feel like Bangla Road has a little more diversity to offer.

I also noticed that the girls in Patong are way more open to taking a picture or videos.

I remember when my wife and I visited Pattaya and my wife took a picture of me, standing in front of a bar with 3 girls in the background, those girls got really upset with us straight away.

And when we were in Patong, my wife asked one of the girls if it would be ok for me to take a video with my phone and that was no problem whatsoever. Keep in mind though that we did buy a drink or 2 there. So that might have helped.

If you haven’t read my article about my favorite Thailand YouTubers yet where I mentioned Jesper from Nine Media, he has a lot of nice interactions with the girls at Bangla road and even buys lady drinks for them.

Here you can check out one of his videos that I personally really like.

Happy Hours and Average Alcohol Prices in Patong

When you’re going to explore the nightlife of Phuket, and Bangla Road specifically, you’ll find that most bars will have happy hours.

Those happy hours usually end around 7 or 8 PM, right before it gets busier.

When my wife and I are going out, we usually do that after the sun has gone down, because I don’t like to drink when it’s hot outside. The alcohol just hits differently then.

But especially in places like Bangla Road, they open up around 12 PM but you’ll see some people in the bars here and there.

The real craziness will start around 10 PM until closing times.

So if you go a bit earlier, you can have a few drinks for excellent prices and you’ll even get 2 for the price of 1, or in some cases, you’ll receive free tequila shots when you buy a beer.

Average alcohol prices in Patong

In Patong, the average price for a beer is between 60 – 80 baht, until around 8 PM.

Once it’s past 8 PM, lots of bars increase their alcohol prices a bit where the average beer will cost you anywhere between 80-100 baht.

Cocktail prices are between 100 – 150 baht.

And the lady drinks will cost you between 120-150 baht, depending on where you go. And at the agogo bars, they could even go up to 200 baht per drink.

Fun story

The last time Saengduan and I visited Bangla Road, we were walking around the bar area and some guys tried to get us to go into this bar called Suzy Wong, which was a completely closed bar.

And I thought it was a go-go bar, and we were allowed to walk in and have a look and if we didn’t want to stay, we were free to leave without buying a drink.

When we walked in, we passed this black curtain and I was standing eye to eye with a fully naked Thai girl on stage, holding a whip in her hand and smacking this random guy’s ass. Haha.

When I looked at Saengduan and she looked at me, we both decided it would be best to just walk back how we came in and left it at that.

Just to put all of this together, the Phuket nightlife has something to offer for everyone, whether you’re a single guy, looking for some cute girl to bring to your hotel, or you’re like Saengduan and me, a couple looking to have a good time, you can find it all.

Would I recommend bringing your young kids to places like Bangla Road? Not so much.

although you do see some families every now and then, it’s not a place for kids. And that is ok too, right?

In case you do visit Phuket with your kids, I’ve got the perfect recommendation for you.

you could spend a day at the Andamanda Waterpark, which I recently published an article about. And to be fair, although I’m already 40 years old, I still love waterparks.

When we go for a night out, we usually do that every now and then, and during the day, we like to do some day trips, I can highly recommend paying a visit to the Big Buddha, when you’re in Phuket. It gives some amazing views over Phuket.
